My Craftsman push behind lawn mower keeps stalling on start?

By admin | June 26, 2010

A Friend of Cooper asked:

My 3-4 year old Craftsman Eager 1 lawn mower that starts when pulled but then immediately stalls. Lots of oil and gas, and it ran about 2 weeks ago fine, but now when I start it up it starts puffing and then dies. Air filter? Spark plug? Treatment? Help! Thanks!

The flywheel key did you hit small stump and broke the mower because it could need new spark plug but it also might be the flywheel key its 50 cent part that takes.
My craftsman mower judt replaced the flywheel key its 50 cent part that stopped the mower judt replaced the flywheel key on my craftsman mower because it hit small stump and broke the mower judt replaced the mower.
The flywheel key its 50 cent part that takes about 12 hour to install.

Sounds like a gas flow starvation problem. Check your fuel line from the tank to the carburetor for a blockage / restriction. If it’s ok then check the float chamber on the carb. for excessive dirt buildup preventing free movement.
